Celebrity nail tech Tracey Sutter has personally seen the manicure evolve from 1980s Flashdance fabulous to today's array of gorgeous glam naturals. There isn't a nail care technique - naturals, acrylics, gels, Minx, tips and even hand and foot makeovers – that she doesn't do splendidly.
A third generation Californian who grew up in the San Fernando Valley, Tracey had been a serious nail biter as a child. Finally in 1981, as a young mother of two, she went and had acrylics done and voila!
Inspiration hit then and there. She watched closely and guessed correctly she could teach herself the technique. She went and purchased all supplies she needed and got busy. Within about six months Tracey had built a clientele at home. In 1984, she earned her professional certification West Valley Occupational Center in manicuring. And because she had been the top student there, she immediately secured a job in a nail salon.
Initially, much of Tracey's clientele were the wives and mothers of celebrities and sports stars. Word soon spread however and Cloutier signed her in 2000.
Since then, Tracey's career in media-genic manicuring has taken off. She's perfected the talons of the great and the good including Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, Jessica Biel, Eva Longoria, and Reese Witherspoon. Plus, her portfolio boasts 15 feature films, a host of commercials and more photo shoots than you can count.
When it comes to hands-on beauty, Tracey Sutter is the real deal.
