Amber Dreadon

Amber Dreadon is a makeup artist with one eye on fashion and the other on art, her modern, forward-thinking approach to beauty honed during 15 years in the business.

Amber has worked extensively at the forefront of the fashion industry, wielding her brushes behind the scenes at international fashion weeks including New York, London, Milan and Paris at shows for designers such as Chloe, Proenza Schouler, Kenzo, Victoria Beckham, Rick Owens and Marni as well as print editorial for publications including Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Black and Oyster.

Celebrities including Lorde, Rita Ora, Hayley Williams and Florence Welch have called on Amber’s expertise as she becomes known for her ability not only to create stunning makeup, but for her passion and skill in collaborating with like-minded individuals.

Establishing her career as an artist for makeup powerhouse MAC Cosmetics in her home of Auckland, New Zealand, Amber quickly demonstrated she could distil the essence of a fashion collection into an inspiring beauty accompaniment, becoming an influential force in the fashion and beauty industry in New Zealand as well as working extensively in Australia, Asia and beyond. In 2005 she was named as one of MAC’s key international Senior Artists, travelling to fashion weeks worldwide, directing makeup for special events in Australia and New Zealand, working with touring artists like Kanye West and Steven Tyler and developing numerous other creative projects. In 2014 she extended her professional reach by undertaking an independent career as a freelance artist.

In addition to her achievements within the fashion industry, Amber has contributed to a wide range of projects where her skills in beauty, artistic and transformative makeup were called upon. These include television series, red carpet appearances, art installations, designing makeup for the Royal NZ Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Cirque Du Soleil and the CFDA Rag & Bone show in Beijing.

Most recently she has worked and travelled extensively with Grammy Award-winning artist Lorde, assisting in cementing the singer’s beauty look as an instantly-recognizable signature worldwide.

Despite her drive to challenge traditional notions of beauty with boundless creativity, Amber is equally skilled and devoted to perfecting simplicity – the mastery of the tools and products at her disposal allowing her to create flawless skin, striking lips, enviable brows and the like, with admirable speed and precision.
